Legendary Pauper Commander Banlist Update

Starting today, several updates to the Legendary Pauper Commander banlist come into effect, with the goal of keeping the format interactive, diverse, and enjoyable for all players.

Banned Cards

  • Treasure Cruise
  • Imprisoned in the Moon

Reviewed but Not Banned

  • Cloud of Faeries
  • Hare Apparent

Rationale

Treasure Cruise has been banned because, at an extremely low effective cost, it generates an excessive amount of card advantage relative to the average speed of the format. It too often functions as a one-mana “draw three” that can single-handedly swing the outcome of a game. Additionally, it is already banned in Pauper Constructed, further highlighting its power level being out of scale for a commons-only environment.

Imprisoned in the Moon has been banned due to its highly oppressive nature as a removal spell. It effectively turns almost any problematic permanent into a basic land, with very few clean answers available within the format. This often results in lock scenarios similar to those historically associated with Oubliette in other Pauper Commander contexts.

  • Cloud of Faeries
Cloud of Faeries remains on the “watchlist.” It is clearly above rate for a generally slower format like LPDH, where mana acceleration has a significant impact. The card also has strong synergies with multiple combo and value-based strategies. At the same time, it functions as a true “Swiss army knife”: it accelerates mana, fixes colors, replaces itself, flies, and benefits from being both a Faerie and a creature. Its impact continues to be monitored, and future action is not excluded.
  • Hare Apparent
Hare Apparent is not banned at this time but remains under close observation. In a format where board presence is often decisive, its ability to flood the battlefield and scale in power with each additional copy can generate a level of board development well above the LPDH baseline. Its real impact on gameplay will continue to be evaluated before any final decision is made.
